Home Shopping Nightmare

There's a popular home shopping network that did some Beatles shows last year. I will keep the program anonymous and I waited until now to write this blog so that it wouldn't be so obvious what show(s) I'm referring to, but I watched a couple of these shows and TOOK NOTES! I can't even believe this was on television...yikes.

I know that my notes are going to sound extremely picky, so let me just say that this is all in fun and I'm not really this picky, but also...if I were going onto live television, I'd make sure I didn't say anything incorrect. I would study the subject enough to not say foolish things and/or not say anything I wasn't sure about. All of these mistakes went without correction and it's scary.

*The shirt that was named the 'Revolution' style was repeatedly referred to as "The Revolutions."

*The red and blue albums they were selling were like nothing we've ever seen before because they've been remastered. Hmm...sounds like a collection that came out a year earlier except this is only some greatest hits discs and last year was their entire catalog.

*They showed a photo that was taken in 1968 and said it was from 1965. [What's even worse about that is that 1965 falls under the red category and 1968 falls under the blue, so that should have been his first clue...]

*They showed a photo that was taken in 1970 and said it was from 1969.

*What's so interesting about the set is "that when you think Beatles, you probably could recall immediately four or five of your favorite songs." Gee, I'm pretty sure I can think of 200+ songs, mister! [I believe they officially had 227 songs, to be exact.] As a matter of fact, I can probably think of four or five songs by artists that I don't even like! HAHAHA!

*The "photos that you've probably never seen before" were pretty darn common photos that we all have seen countless times.

*They talked about "why hasn't this been done before." It has been done, and thankfully it was all of their albums rather than just fifty-four big hits.

*A caller talked about how excited she is to have also ordered the shirts they were selling [on top of buying the CDs] so she can walk around her city in them. My local Wal-Mart sells Beatles t-shirts that are prettier and cheaper than theirs, so I'm not sure why she's so excited that she can walk around in a Beatles shirt. It was rare to find Beatles shirts in stores about fifteen years ago, but it's pretty common these days, and the ones they were selling weren't anything special. [They even went on to say that those shirts are like nothing you can find in stores or anywhere else. LIARS! lol]

*A caller talked about how she always loved Paul because he was so cute...and then she said in an embarrassed tone that she still thinks so. Why is that so bizarre and humiliating to admit? I'm so confused! "I still think he's cute, actually." DUH!

*A caller also said about Paul that "he looks great all the time" even though Paul is "before her time" *SIGHS*

*This lady was talking about how she took her nine year old son to see Ringo and had the nerve to say the reason was that she "figured he's seventy years old" and that they "better go see him now!" What does THAT mean? Is he planning to go any time soon? I definitely don't think so. That man is healthier than ME! LOL

*The 'Revolution' style t-shirt also has "Back In The U.S.S.R." written on it and they said, "Even though it says 'Back In The U.S.S.R.,' but that's for the Revolution Album." First of all, "Revolution" is not on a British album [unless you meant "Revolution 1"] and it certainly is not on the same one as "BITUSSR" if you want to consider the American "Hey Jude" album. There is also NO album that even has "Revolution" in its name. I don't know why he decided to invent a false album.

*Hmm...apparently Abbey Road is in Liverpool. That's interesting. I wonder how I managed to cross Abbey Road while in London during my visit to England.

*They also said that people who cross Abbey Road [in Liverpool, hah] are "allowed" to take photos. I don't see why it would be against the law to take a photo on a public road, but maybe I'm missing something.

*The t-shirt model was wearing a hat and they joked about how it's not included, but said it was her own "personal touch from way back in the day, if you will" and then called it "mod." *SIGHS*

*Thanks to these remasters, apparently the band is getting played more on radio stations and are getting more interviews, etc. I don't even know what to say about that, but they've always been on the radio and P&R are always being interviewed. This does not seem to have made a difference, I hate to say.

*They were making a fuss about how hard it is to pick which shirt to get and said, "Do you get The Beatles with all four of them on there? Do you get the Abbey Road, which is iconic..." Wait...so the Abbey Road one doesn't have all four of them on it? Gee, I thought I counted four, but I'll have to pull the album out and see who is missing! They did this more than once too, talking about the Abbey Road shirt and then the other one that actually has all four of them...LOL!

*One of the men said that you "can wear them styles going out to work." Hmm...

*There was one caller that actually came off as a real fan, but she did say that the 'Revolution' style t-shirt was unique. That shirt and look has been around for at least five years. I even got a purse with that style about three years ago, so it's definitely not new and unfortunately not unique. How has she not seen this design and why did they have the nerve to say they were the first to get that design and introduce it to the world? Erg.

*One of the men said that the Shea Stadium concert was "right when it was just happening." I don't know what that even means, to be honest. If it occurred, of course it was happening! It occurred! Also, most bands perform concerts when they're "happening" or still together. What did he even mean by that statement?

*They went on and on about the Abbey Road silhouette design being so unique. I've seen that design many times and saw it for the first time [this exact design, anyway] five years ago at Target! LOL

*Just like "The Revolutions" album that does not exist, Abbey Road was referred to multiple times as "The Abbey Road." [They also later talked about "The Yellow Submarine," "The Sgt. Pepper," & finally..."The Lennon/McCartney.]

*They talked about how fun Rock Band is because you can sing along with it. Ehm...you can sing along with the records or anything! The fun of Rock Band is not to "sing along," but to be them, their characters, and actually do the singing.

*HAHAHA! They said that you can wear their shirts while playing Rock Band in order to recreate what they did. I'm pretty sure they didn't ever wear Beatles t-shirts when they were performing...so you're not exactly recreating anything, though I am ALWAYS wearing something Beatley and encourage everyone to dress up for Rock Band, etc.

*Apparently there's a Beatles song called "My Guitar Gently Weeps." Close, but no...

*I had no idea that Eric Clapton's contribution to "My Guitar Gently Weeps" [lol] was so unknown. They got very excited having learned that trivia, but it's definitely no secret. Knowing that qualifies you as an expert, according to these guys.

*'Sgt. Pepper's LHCB' is when "The Beatles almost recreated rock and roll." ALMOST?

*When talking about the Ed Sullivan DVDs, one guy said that "maybe if you witnessed it, you could sit down with your family today and watch it all over again." First of all, you don't have to have witnessed it to buy and watch it. Why is it that you "could" sit down with your family? Lastly, "watch it all over again" implies you'll want to watch it once and/or it would be a chore to do so.

*The guy got upset that the most requested song for their live broadcast was "Norwegian Wood [This Bird Has Flown]." He said he thought it would be "Let It Be." That fine, I guess, but don't make a disgusted face! Maybe not everyone wants to hear the obvious. That's a good thing! Don't shrug your shoulders and question out loud why...it's rude and makes fans angry.

*Hmm..."Eleanor Rigsby?"

*A caller said it is "so strange" that her teenage daughter likes The Beatles. Well, that tells me that mom really doesn't! LOL

*
Another show...
*

*It was suggested that we've all heard our favorite Beatles songs 1,001 times. I'm pretty sure I've exceeded that with every one of their songs, I must admit. They're what I listen to about 99% of the time and I've been officially obsessed for more than twenty-five years, teehee.

*If I buy the red and blue albums, I'm going to hear things I've never heard, no matter how big of a fan I am. What if I bought the same songs remastered back in 2009?

*They said it's impossible to get these songs on iTunes, which they of course are now available on iTunes, but all the real fans knew that they were about to be available on iTunes...so even if what they said was true at the time, it still was a bit ridiculous.

*The red and blue albums are NOT the ultimate gift for the ultimate fan. The ultimate fans like me shake their heads at the red and the blue albums. They're pointless like the darn "1" album. Having said that, I know that these albums serve a purpose for many people. I just wish people would go beyond the hits and discover it ALL!

*May I just add that the hosts of these shows are such fakes, bad actors, and clueless?

*In the later years, they have "the mustache"...TWICE! What a bizarre statement. Sadly, the photo he's looking at only has two Beatles with facial hair, but the point is...it's still a bizarre statement anyway!

*A lady holds up the following photo and called it Sgt. Pepper: http://www.ubergizmo.com/photos/2010/11/beatles-itunes.jpg

*The one called said her ten-year-old can sing "so many" Beatles songs. That's fine, but I knew them all by heart years earlier than that. Don't brag too hard! Her son even knows songs her dad doesn't even know, although "all" of her family loves The Beatles. Well, he can't love them too much if there's songs out there he doesn't even know. Seriously? She also said her son looks like "Paul McCarthy." McCarthy? Seriously? I get it...not everyone is obsessive, but don't call into a Beatles show and/or brag about your love for them and then embarrass yourself. Oh, and she said that some Beatles CDs were stolen out of her car and she didn't want to get copies from other people's CDs. Well...why couldn't she just go out and buy them again if they're so important? It would be a lot cheaper than this television offer! Why would she have to get copies made?

*Getting the collectible stamps will be like "opening up a box of Cracker Jacks." I get that he means that the stamp you get is randomized, but I would hope that the stamps are nicer than a Cracker Jack prize...

*You should see some of those "rare" photos that are in the booklets. HAHAHA! They're only the most common photos ever! These people don't know anything! Well, it's one thing to not know anything, but it's another to act like you know a lot and be so wrong!

*It's easier to tell their voices apart with the remastered versions. Okay...maybe he just meant it's more clear and separated, but I'm pretty sure I could tell their voices apart the old-fashioned way too! LOL

*This "huge fan" was throwing a fit over the little acetate squares with the stories on the back. Yes...they are very cool. Yes...I would like to have them. No...I do not think they're so spectacular after having seen so many more cooler things in my lifetime.

*Billy Preston's organ was referred to as "that instrument."

*They made a really big deal about their offer having the two albums packaged together. In stores, "you're going to either get the red, the blue, or both separate. What are you going to do if you go to the store and one of them is sold out?" Trust me...they won't be, hahaha.

*When asked if he has a favorite Beatles song, one of the hosts likes "some of the early stuff." I do appreciate him holding back his bursting enthusiasm for us...

*This caller recalls watching The Ed Sullivan Show, but says she can't remember if it was in color or not. WOW. She also liked their "costumes." One of the hosts makes a big deal about how the caller can remember seeing the show, but obviously she doesn't remember it too well since she couldn't even see the colors! HAH!

*This show obviously doesn't have a wardrobe department to help these people out. I feel bad for them.

*The Beatles' logo was on Ringo's drum-head. I'm glad he told me because I never noticed!

*This photo was on the screen when referred to as "Meet The Beatles." Hmm...: http://beatlefans.com/post/beatles1968.jpg

*Both of the posters that aren't commercially sold and are only available through this offer...I've seen in stores. Oops!

*One caller said she was teased for being named "Judy." That makes no sense. It's an extremely common name...but anyway, that's the reason "Hey Jude" is her favorite song, apparently.

*One of the hosts told a health care provider "thank you for being a teacher." I hope she means a Beatles teacher because she said her patients hear the boys all of the time.

THE END :D
